Mass Intentions

To arrange a Mass intention, please contact the Parish Office.

What does it mean to have a Mass “offered” for someone?

Mass intentions refer to the particular purpose for which a specific Mass is offered. Most commonly, a Mass is requested for the repose of the soul of someone who has died. One should never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass which benefit one’s soul, both for the living and the deceased.

Although the origins of the practice of offering Mass intentions date to the early Church, we still recognize its importance today. To have a Mass offered on the occasion of a birthday, anniversary or special need is appropriate, beneficial and appreciated. Really, there is no greater gift that we can give.

If you would like to remember a loved one in this way, please contact the Parish Office for more information.

Why go to Mass?

Again and again as Catholics we need to remind ourselves that we don’t come to Mass primarily for what we want to give to God (i.e., prayer). We can and should pray anywhere and everywhere. We come to Mass primarily for what God wants to give to us, and what He most wants to give to us is Himself, in the Eucharist, which isn’t a symbol of His Body and Blood, it is His Body and Blood, hidden under the appearance of bread and wine. Jesus is the one who says, not me, that unless we eat His Flesh and drink His Blood we have no life in us (cf. John 6:53). We simply cannot seriously say that we are disciple of Jesus, and if we’re parents we are not being faithful to what we promised at our child’s baptism, if we don’t go to Mass each Sunday.
